In the near future, the mask regime in closed public places may be canceled in Georgia. The head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, told reporters about this.

According to him, the issue is being discussed that in Georgia the wearing of masks should be mandatory only for certain groups of the population. As Gamkrelidze said, such rules are currently in force in many countries.

“In many countries, the wearing of masks in closed spaces has been canceled. Discussions are ongoing in the Ministry of Health and in the Coordinating Council on this issue. I think that an appropriate decision will be made in the near future,” Gamkrelidze said.

In connection with the improvement of the epidemic situation, since March 28, the rule of mandatory wearing of masks in open spaces has been canceled in Georgia. Masks are still required to be worn on public transport, shops, schools, theaters and other enclosed public spaces.
