The armed forces of Ukraine surrounded the city of Liman, Donetsk region. This information was spread by Russian military bloggers, it was also confirmed by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The grouping of Russian armed forces in Liman was surrounded after the Ukrainians broke through the Russian defense line in the area of the settlement of Stavok and occupied the Torskoye-Drobyshevo road. This was the last road connecting the Russian grouping in Liman with the rest of the forces.
ISW experts say that if the remaining units of the Russian 20th Army and the Bars-13 unit in Liman do not break the blockade, they will either be captured or destroyed.
Russian forces also left the village of Yampil, located east of Liman.
Fighting continues in the villages of Zarechno-Torskoye, and all roads are under Ukrainian fire control.
The surroundings of Liman, like the Izyum disaster, will be very painful for Russia. Having captured Liman, Ukraine will launch a large-scale offensive in the Luhansk-Donetsk direction. The next stage will probably be an attack by the Ukrainians in the direction of Lysichansk-Severodonetsk.
