“The whole of Ukraine that remains under the rule of Kyiv will burn,” Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, promised, commenting on a possible strike by Ukrainian troops on Crimea.

“If Ukraine attacks Russian facilities in Crimea, there can be no talk of any negotiations; in this case, “only retaliatory strikes” are possible from Russia, Medvedev said in an interview with journalist Nadana Friedrichson.

According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, in the event of strikes "deep into Russia", Moscow's response can be anything, it will be "quick, tough and convincing." Medvedev said that Russia does not set itself any restrictions and, depending on the nature of the threats, is ready to use all types of weapons "in accordance with our doctrinal documents, including the Fundamentals of Nuclear Deterrence."

According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine were provoked by Washington, and, if desired, the United States could end them with a "snap of a finger", persuading Kyiv to sit down at the negotiating table. But, Medvedev argues, the United States is not interested in this.
