Our Georgian neighbors can join the 3+3 format - Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that Georgia can join the 3+3 format. Lavrov stated this at a press conference.
“Before the meeting scheduled in Moscow within this format, we have repeatedly stated that our Georgian neighbors can participate in this process. As a result, there will be more opportunities for communication and solving existing problems,” Lavrov said.
Lavrov recalled that relations between Tbilisi and Moscow today are carried out only in the format of the Geneva talks.
“The processes launched in the 3+3 format are very important, because this concerns the prospects for the development of the entire region,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
According to him, the involvement of Georgia in this process does not impose any obligations on it, as regards the political position of Tbilisi.
The initiators of the 3+3 format were President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It should include Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Georgia. Tbilisi at this stage refrains from participating in the format.
