Armed forces of Ukraine entered the city of Liman, Donetsk region. It is reported by Radio Liberty.
Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels report that Russian troops have left the city. Neither the military command of Russia nor the officials of Ukraine have yet confirmed this information.
Russian military bloggers write that Russian troops “organized retreat to pre-prepared positions,” although Ukrainian experts strongly doubt this. Most likely it was a stampede.
Before that, it was reported that the armed forces of Ukraine surrounded a group of Russians numbering 5,500 people in Liman. Their fate is unknown.
Lyman is part of the Donetsk region, which on September 30, by Putin's decree, became part of the Russian Federation. No country in the world has recognized Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territory.
